All Map Projections are lies. Here’s some more for you

There’s a lot written about how maps distort reality. Mercator distorts Greenland to the size of Africa, a 14x increase. Peters Equal-Area stretches shapes and messes up directions. The arbitrariness of maps can be seen with things like the Australian Upside-Down which shifts the longitude as well, producing a result that is all the more jarring for knowing that it’s no less accurate than North-upwards maps. Indeed, many ancient maps were East-up, since that’s where the sun comes from; hence “orientation”.

Presenting for your consideration, our own little contribution to the form; a map that reimagines the world if it spun off its axis and relocated your chosen location (clickable) to be at (0.000, 0.000), i.e. right in the middle of the equator. It also has a trippy ‘spin’ button to rotate it about its middle.

And remember: no matter how weird and distorted you get this to look, it’s no more distorted than every other map you’ve ever seen!
